back in business!

yippee! i got my new battery in the mail today and it seems to be working fine. now all i have to do is figure out the problem with my pictures and we'll be up and running. don't forget to check back tomorrow to see if you are the winner for the mari robeson home giveaway!

blasted technology!

the tech gods (not that i believe in them) are against me! let me give you a rundown of my week SO FAR:
-my cell phone battery died. i can't find my charger. anywhere.
-my iphone (don't ask why i have 2 phones) was being updated with the new software, and i lost everything on it. everything. all appointments, all birthdays, all phone numbers, accounts... EVERYTHING.
-on a funny note, kind of, my husband had to set up all my apps again on my phone. when he reset my email, he added me as the pleated poopy. THE PLEATED POOPY! thankfully, only one email went out with that name, and it was to a good friend. thanks babe, i owe you one!
- my computer wasn't letting me upload any pics to my shop. which means that i can't add any of my many new items to my shop. ugh.
- then, to top things off, last night my computer died. dead. just turned off and didn't come back. thankfully, a friend diagnosed that it needed a new battery and said battery has been ordered and rushed in shipping.

so all this to say, don't expect much from me this week. i am so super disappointed because i have fun things for you. but don't forget to enter the giveaways and check back for the winner on friday. hopefully you'll get a little something from me between now and then.

but to be honest, i'll let you in on a little secret. i'm going to be a little bit busy this week HELPING MY BEST FRIEND MOVE INTO HER NEW HOUSE HERE!!!! yes, nicole and fam are here in town and the big move in begins tomorrow a.m.

one of those days

today has been one of those days! my internet was down most of the day, i'm trying to upload new items to my shop and its not accepting any of my pictures, my husband has a late meeting, kids are cranky, i'm flustered... aaaaaaah! actually, it hasn't been all that bad, but it is the end of the day, and i am tired.

but, alas, bedtime is soon. and since no one in this house can really read time yet, our usual bedtime of 7:30 just may move up to 7. brilliant idea. and, if i actually liked the taste of wine (did you know i can't stand it? little known fact), tonight would be the night for me to unwind with a glass, watch a little hgtv (which we now have, kinda against my will. but i didn't fight too hard), and turn a happy little pile of fabric on my lap into something for you! so i think i'll just trade the wine for some chocolate and call it good!

so sorry if i didn't return your email today, but i'm pretty sure you understand. and if you looked in the shop for those new products, well, they're not there. all will work out, but apparently, just not today!

summer fest

here are a few pics of my booth from summer fest in bend, oregon last weekend. i *loved* my booth! nicole has a couple buddies that have "antique" shops (awesome junk shops, really) and they let us borrow any pieces we needed for display - so so nice! i ended up keeping a couple pieces: the ironing board with jade legs and the iron gate. thank you, nicole, for being my booth buddy. and joy - i missed having you!

i've got a handful of full aprons in the shop! these ladies are super cute - at my show last weekend as soon as we put an apron on the mannequin it sold, then we'd put on a new one and it'd sell, too - i think we sold 6 or 7 in a matter of 45 minutes! crazy!

nicole's shower

now on to the good stuff! last week i helped with a shower for nicole at the home of a friend of her's. not only was the hostess (joanna) unbelievable sweet (and a bit sassy!), but beautiful. and her home! ah! don't worry, i snuck all over and took lots of pics i'll show you soon. but i'll just start by describing it as a.ma.zing.

i made thee little flags after seeing last month's edition of better homes and gardens. they featured a home with this idea as decor. i used fabric that coordinated with nicole's baby bedding. i got a 1/4 yard of each fabric and was able to get 5 or 6 flags out of each piece. i just cut rectangles then notched triangular cuts on the ends (sounds more difficult than it was). then i bought dowels and cut them in half (ok, my dad did) then hot glued the fabric to the dowel. easy peasy. i stuck them in these blue mason jars on the table and in joanna's old sap buckets along the bar by the drinks.

joanna found these great lemonade glasses at world market for $1 a piece!

i wanted to make some sort of pennat banner for the mantle but ran out of fabric. all i had left were the little triangles i had cut out of the flags. so i got creative and used those tiny scraps, cut them in strips, and tied them to limey green grosgrain ribbon, then swooped it across the mantle. it wasn't quite the statement i was looking for, but it still added a little punch.

joanna took care of the house and all the food and drinks, and i just did a few decorations. the food was super yummy and beautiful, and jo made sangria and hand squeezed basil lemonade (ohmygoodnessitwassostinkingood!) and finished us all off with a trifle.

the best part of the shower was the hours we all spent talking. nicole has been blessed to have such a wonderful group of women to call her friends. i know they will miss her a ton when she moves down here in a couple weeks, but they, too will be missed by nicole.

i'm home after 10 days away and i have a lot of catching up to do! but first marked off my list: the shop is back open! these petal pushers are running out fast, so hurry if you want to get your hot little hands on them - just $10 each. and coming soon is a beautiful grey version - oh, so cool!

bend: day ?who's counting anymore?

we've got a house full of sickies - high high fevers, coughs, and runny noses. someone forgot to tell the sick bugs that we are on vacation, therefore they should be too!


the baby shower went great last night, but for now i'll just leave you with this little peak (blasted flash!). i'll give you the scoop later, promise.

**ps: i closed my shop for the weekend since i have a show saturday and sunday here in bend. i'll reopen on monday, promise. well, hopefully.**

one dream home SOLD.

yes, its true, nicole did end up selling her house. she hinted at the possibility awhile back, but not even i knew how much of a reality it was. although this home really is incredible, the job market here is at a steady rapid decline and they are getting out before there is no work left, and moving much closer to family. we are here to not only enjoy their beautiful home, but also to pack it all up.

this has been a whirlwind for their family: the house sold in near record time, her husband is searching for a new job, she has had to find all new doctors, find a new school for her almost kindergartener, leave a beautiful town, and she's very pregnant to boot!

as terrible as it has been to come to this home that is so clearly filled with love of family only to say goodbye to it, i am also giddy excited. guess where nicole is moving to?!?! yep, my town!!!!!! i can hardly contain myself (or type fast enough!)!!! we haven't lived withing 15 minutes of each other in over 6 years and, let me tell you, it has been 6 years too long!

packing has gone really well so far, and its actually been pretty fun. i'm a crazy person who LOVES to pack and unpack. really. love it. so getting to go through all of nicole's things and pack them away is all too fun for me. but even better is the knowing that i'll get to help unpack and set up her new home with her. and we've run across a few treasures along the way that stir up lots of memories - fabric scraps from baby blankets, dating photos, etc. so much fun.

so now those of you that are my real life friends will get to meet her and love her (because you can't help but love her). we'll be bringing a trailer full home with us, and they'll be following in a couple weeks. i can't wait!
