the loft

for those of you that are new here, welcome to the loft!
we had a detached one car garage in our back yard that my parents demolished
and built a 2 car garage with a small loft above.
you can see the progress here, here and here.
my parents stay here 1 week a month and then we use it as a guest house the rest of the time.
lucky us!

and now they are nearly done!
they've been working on the fireplace mantle and the kitchen area,
so i'll show you pics of that area when they're done.

when you first walk in you see the couch and the bedroom behind it.
they built the divider wall with windows they rescued from being tossed after a remodel.

the couch and ottoman are from ikea and my mom made all the pillows
(the apple didn't fall too far from the tree).

most of the fabrics are from moda's arcadia line, which is nearly impossible to find anymore.
i am planning on using that line in my master bedroom
which apparently will never get done, but i am struggling finding more fabric!
my mom made the pillow above from a $1 grass cloth mat!

the back wall of the bedroom they added mirror that they got from restore.
it was from large closet doors that they took to a glass cutter and they sized them to the wall.

my mom made all of her bedding and also the bedside lamps - i'll give details on that later!

the chandelier was an extra one i had tucked under the house, and sprayed white.
all the sparkly crystals make me happy!

and my mom is an avid thrift store shopper.
she scores amazing deals and great finds - i'll definitely give you a more detailed tour
when they are finished with construction!

ps - i'll announce the shey b giveaway winner tomorrow!

  4. You could try Hart's Fabric in Santa Cruz for the Moda fabric. I'm not finding it on their website, but I feel like I've seen it in their store recently. All the ladies there are super helpful.

  7. Lindsey-
I was wondering if you could share the paint color you used in the loft and also the blue green your beadboard is painted in the bathroom (at least I think that's the room where you take pictures of all of your outfits!). I especially love that one, it's hard to find the perfect shade of bluey green.
I'm a little obsessed with paint colors right now since I have to choose paint for a whole house in the next couple of weeks. Fun, but a little stressful too!
    Thanks!!

  9. Really great that your parents have a place where they can come stay and visit. It looks lovely!

My parents live with us in a downstairs apartment, which can get interesting, but since retiring they often hit the road. It is so nice for my children to be able to spend time with them.

Do they watch the kids when they are in town?? That is an added bonus!
