it's almost tiiiiiime!

the queen bee market is almost here!

are you so excited?!
i bet you can tell by all my exclamation marks that I AM!!!!

i have been working like crazy and am all prepped and packed.
i spent a couple hours tonight practicing my setup for the show.
sounds silly, yes,but i usually take up a 10 x 10 ft booth,
and i'm squishing onto a 6 x 3 ft table.

i'm really happy with the setup i finally figured out, and i'm hoping for a great turnout on saturday.
because i could have all these products ready to go,
but it won't mean anything if no one comes.
so are you coming?!

i've had several of you email me to let me know you'll be there!
i am so excited to meet so many of you "in real life".
but prepare yourself:
i'm not nearly as chatty in person as i am here.
or i start with the nervous chatter and say silly things.
keep the expectations low.
but if you come for the goods, they'll be there in full force!
i will have hundreds, yes, HUNDREDS, of items for the taking.
and plenty of items that aren't in my shop yet either!

and for those of you who can't make it, consider a road trip?
or, to save some money on gas and hotel, just head over to my shop right now!
even though i will be bringing basically my whole shop with me,
you can still purchase anything from my shop until friday night.
then my shop will be closed all day saturday.
i'll do an inventory check and re-open sometime on sunday.
so don't freak out if you go to my shop and can't buy anything!

talk soon!

what i wore this week - week 3

i've decided spring on the central coast is very fickle.

yesterday was about 85 degrees.
the kids were getting hosed down on the trampoline in their bathing suits.
today is chilly and overcast.

so there's a little background on the variation of outfits!

 friday:
like the wet hair? i'm starting a new trend.

sweater: target
dress: old navy
jeans: old navy
shoes: walmart

 saturday:
we worked in the garden most of the day, so these are my grubbies.

later saturday:

sweater: old navy
shirt dress: old navy
scarf: forever21
posy and petal pusher: the pleated poppy
jeans: local shop
flats: target

 here's a close-up for you.
necklace by lisa leonard.

 sunday:

now that i'm doing this project, i can see what i wear a lot of.
this is the 3rd sunday in a row that i've worn this pink sweater!
that tells me i need another colored cardi!

sweater: target
shirt: mervyn's
pants: forever21
shoes: marshall's
 camera strap: shey b!

  monday:
we woke up sooo late.
thankfully joy was able to pick gracie up for school since we were nowhere near ready!

you don't even want to know where i got any of it -
who would want to replicate that?!

oh, my flips are rainbows, the best flip flops in the world.
i've had mine for at least 12 years!

 tuesday:

the kids have gymnastics tuesday mornings.
silas' class is "mommy and me" so i always dress comfy on tuesdays.
vest: target
grey striped henley: target
jeans: old and patched by me
slippers: target

wednesday:

this is what i wore for drop-off.
sweater: target
shirt: forever21, ruffled by me
jeans: local boutique
shoes: marshall's

wednesday (again):
i had to go back to school because i serve lunch to the kiddos on wednesdays, and the weather had turned!
i was freezing!

hat: payless shoes
sweater: old navy
jeans: local shop
boots: miz moos online somewhere?

i'm debating if i should continue with this idea or give it up.
i mean, i keep wearing the same things over and over!
what do you think?

and anyone want to join me and share what you're wearing?

little reminders

sometimes i need little reminders...
to love on my kids
to encourage their creativity
to enjoy the stage we're at
to put my family first

this is not a picture of my sewing machine.
this is a pic of the little reminders my girls like to leave me.
and i love it!

play by play

here's a fairly typical day in my life.
it's super glamorous, so be prepared for jealousy on your part.
just sayin'.

6:20  - #2 and 3 are in my bed, sean is not.  i remember he has a men's study early thursday mornings.  snuggle #3 until he's fast asleep while holding hands with #2.

6:45 - #3 wants his ritual cup of morning milk.  get up in the freezing house (later find out the heater has been turned off!) to get the last of the milk for him.  stumble blindly back into bed.  more snuggles.  more sleep.

7:30 - alone in bed (when did that happen?).  #2 and 3 are playing nicely (!!!!).  they wake me asking for vitamins - another daily ritual.  i stumble out of bed and immediately throw on my warmest robe, turn on the heater, get them vitamins, then check my email.  print out orders, update twitter, #1 wakes up for some snuggles.

7:45 - kids are begging for "brefkist", so we go into the kitchen.  they all fight over who gets to help, so i remind them they can't have breakfast until their beds are made. 1.5 peaceful minutes alone before the girls start fighting over pillows or blankets or something insignificant.

8:00 - all 3 kids sitting at the island, eating oatmeal with brown sugar and strawberries.  none for me.   i won't touch the stuff - nasty texture, uck!  while they eat i start cleaning the kitchen, but only because i have a playdate later on today. let's be honest now.

8:20 - my slow eaters are now fighting and #3 is in a timeout for hitting #2.  sigh.  start to a long day.  can i have chocolate this early?  hot chocolate!  for me at least, the kids don't have to know...

9:00 - powered past the chocolate cravings, cleaned the kitchen (mostly), and the rest of the great room. left the floors for later.  story of my life.  sean home for a bit. time to take a shower with the kids and start our day.

9:20 - still not in shower.  got caught up reading gussy's biz series.  too good to pass up.  finally get in shower.

9:45 - out of shower, boy is dressed, see its raining outside - perfect, since we're heading out to run errands :( - remind girls/yell at girls to get dressed again. decide against blow drying hair since its raining anyway.  get dressed, photograph.  remind girls again to get dressed.

10:01 - i'm dressed, si is dressed, one girl is dressed -ish, and the other is yet to be.  TIME TO GO!  ok, i'll process orders since i'm heading to the p.o. anyway...

10:15 - ready to go.  wait!  i have to brush my teef.  and i forgot to eat breakfast!  oh well, teeth win.  out the door to run errands.

12:15 - home from p.o., costco, and new tj maxx.  turns out simon says at the post office helps keep kids patient in line.  nothing at tj maxx, which is good because it'll be a long time until i'm tempted to go back again.  feds the kids lunch while i swiffer vac'd the floor.  silas ate 2 bites and asked to go to nap (typical).

12:50 - gracie and i are starting home school and lily is still eating (v e r y  s l o w l y), the hopefully she'll go to naps.  i start a load of laundry and check my email.

1:00 - ok, home school is really starting now:
-sing "this is the day"
-work on poetry recitation/clean playroom (ADD daughter can't really multitask, so this combo was a bad idea)
-get her started on explode the code while i go make myself a pb and j
-read the birth of jesus in children's story bible
-read story of the world, talking about the birth of jesus (not a christian book, but learning about the historical facts
-do mapwork on life of jesus

2:00 - didn't finish nearly enough schoolwork, but time for our playdate to start.  we'll catch up tomorrow...

5:00 - playdate over. called sean to see when he'll be home (20 minutes).  think about starting dinner, but check email instead.

5:30 - sean is home (YAYYYYY!).  he clearly missed me today :) we start dinner together.  rotisserie chicken, 4 cheese ravioli with pesto, and green beans, aka green french fries (si's fave).

6:00 - eating dinner, but gracie keeps complaining about her loose tooth.

6:15 - sean yanks out my baby's first loose tooth!  she is ecstatic!  i... am not.

7:00 - i'm researching tooth fairy ideas online (thanks for the twitter help!). a friend told her the tooth fairy wasn't real, but i'm determined to change her mind!

7:30 - kids are in bed (i sneak some chocolate)

7:31 - kids are out of bed

7:32 - kids are in bed (i sneak some more chocolate)

7:33 - kids are out of bed

8:00 - kids are asleep and sean and i sit down to work on some forms for school next year.  i break out the chocolate again.  what?

9:00 - check email, rewrite the blog post that was erased yesterday (blasted blogger!)

10:00 - i need to decide what to sew.  i think i'll finish up some more of the checkbook covers i started last night.  i try to watch a few different shows online, but they are all repeats.  what's up with that?

11:00 - finish up more checkbooks, then see that pile of apron pieces, so i start ironing them.  watch survivor online.  that parvati is sneaky!

11:45 - the tooth fairy snuck in without me even noticing and got her beautiful pink fairy dust all over the place!  she left gracie's tooth for her, as requested in a letter by grace, in a pretty little satin pouch, along with the teeniest note and a magical gold ($1) coin.

11:57 - blast!  i missed my new not-yet-to-actually-be-enforced bedtime!  time to turn off the computer, but first i click over to my reader just to look at 1 2 3 quick posts.  unplug iron, wake sean up from the couch, lock the doors and turn out the lights.  night all!

spring boutique #1

wow!  this post took me a bit to get to,
but better late than never!

a few weeks ago we had our first of 2 local spring boutiques.
these are usually hosted at my house,
but my friend susie offered up her newly built house for a change in venue.
and you can bet i'll be featuring her house in another post.
a.ma.zing.
i mean, look at the pic above:
roll up glass garage door, library shelving, glass front fridge - so fun!

it was a great night of hanging out with other crafty ladies, visiting with friends,
eating yummy goodies, and making a buck or 2.
not too shabby!

here's my spread, and my friend dondi shared the table with me.
you can see her bags behind my things, or even better here.

emily of blue corduroy was there with her amazing little girls clothing, knit and fabric hats, and bags.

this turquoise corduroy bag was begging to come home with me,
but then my other turquoise bag that came with me threw a fit and won.
boo.
why can't a girl have 2 turquoise bags?

kristi joined us again with her fabulous reversible fabric bowls, doorstops, and key fobs.
i'm eying one of the bowls to pile my posies and petal pushers in!
i keep bugging kristi to open up shop so the rest of you can visit her, but no luck... yet!

krystina had some great stationary and playdate cards.
playdate cards?!
how great is that idea?!

of course lisa was there, with some major deals on her beautiful jewelry.
if i didn't already have more pieces of her jewelry than i can count, i'd surely have snagged this one.
ah, who's kidding who?
i'm hoping to snag it at the next boutique!

my sweet friend joy was there selling the last of her baby t's
and susie's daughter eden was selling some adorable bookplates.
so cute!

if you're a local and you're bummed you missed out,
or if you made it and just didn't get enough,
i'll be hosting another spring boutique at my house on
friday, may 7th from 6-9.
email me if you'd like to be on the mailing list!

guest blogger nicole: seven hundred and sixty two books

for those of you that are new here, nicole is my best friend and occasionally guest blogs for me.
as always, she's a treat!

for spring break we decided to have a read-a-thon...we would read every children's book in our house.

we didn't quite make it.
we have way more books than we realized.
but it was awesome to "rediscover" some old favorites.

when asked, my 4 year old thinks we read a million books and my 2 year old says, "sooooo many".
my more realistic 6 year old says, "about 762"...so we're stickin' with that.

still, at the top of our faves list, are the books above.
"Fool Moon Rising", "Little Pea", "Cookies", and anything by Anglund are my must-haves.
you know it's a good one when mama can read it over and over ...and over...for years and years...and still enjoy it.

sweet shot

darcy at my 3 boybarians, has set up sweet shot tuesday,
where you can link up your favorite shot of the week.

this is mine.

it says so much to me:
pretty colors, prepped and ready to go for my new quilt
great light streaming in from my windows where i do most of my work
and the spools look good all the time - they didn't move as i was taking the shot,
they are always smiling, and they never whine at me!

*****

in other news:
i'm gru-u-umpy today.
it's official - my new bedtime needs to be before midnight.
i always aim for that and go a little past,
but it really affected my kids today as i was not a nice mommy.
not even a little bit.
so tonight, i'll be in bed by 11:30,
and we'll see if that makes a difference!

petal pushers

i took a little poll on my facebook fan page (are YOU a fan yet?)
and realized you wanted more petal pushers.
you ask and you shall receive!

i added 2 new colors and restocked 2.
watermelon, aqua, heather grey and parisian stripe.

the parisian stripe is by far my favorite!
i'm definitely going to have to keep one for myself!

* * * * *

and have you added your posy picture yet to our flickr group?
show off how you wear your posies!

what i wore this week

hey all!
so i'm keeping my word (can you believe it?!)
i took pics of myself everyday for the last few days and here is the good, bad and the ugly!
i actually put a little thought into what i wore this week, knowing i'd be keeping accountable to you
so i'm sure my husband thanks you!

this is what i wore on friday
which is really surprising since i usually don't get dressed at all on fridays since we don't usually go anywhere!
the dress is from target
jeans from target
copper flats from target
necklace from the pleated poppy (!!!)

and because i'm always cold
i added an oatmeal colored sweater from old navy.

 this would be my standard.
its really bad!
these would be sean's jammie pants and his sweatshirt
the leopard slippers are from target (i'm seeing a trend here)
the only positive in this pic is my beautiful camera strap from shey b!

later on saturday i changed into this.
i never look decent on a saturday,
so i'm guessing i only put some effort into this since sean was gone all week.
scarf from a boutique downtown (maybe $10)
petal pusher from the pleated poppy
sweater from my sister (*love*)
brown $5 tank
same jeans as above from target
same copper flats from target

this is what i wore to church on sunday.
pink sweater from target
dress from girl's section of target (size 14/16 - great for tunics!)
belt from target
tights from walmart
boots from forever21

and because i can't stand the elastic around my waist for too long form tights,
as soon as we walked in the door from church i changed into jeans, took off the belt, buttoned up the sweater, and added a scarf.
jeans and scarf from a downtown boutique
steve madden shoes from nordstrom (about 10 yrs old)

 monday was freezing and raining.
and by freezing i mean 55 degrees.
knit hat by my friend emily
pea green henley form target
fur lined sweatshirt from local surf shop (sean bartered work for product there!)
jeans from target
fake uggs from costco (i think? they're super old)

tuesday:
old man sweater from forever21
tshirt from forever21, then remade by me
jeans from boutique downtown, patched by me
slippers from target

today, running errands, staying home w/ #2 & 3, mtg at school.
scarf from forever21 ($5)
sweater from old navy
long sleeve shirt under from target
jeans from local boutique
flats from target

i'd love to see what YOU'VE been wearing lately!
link up below and share your own "what i wore..." post!
can't wait to see!

later -

its not my bag, baby!

and we have a winner!
congrats to amanda of bella rhys designs!
you won my bloggy birthday giveaway - a bloom bag, just like the one i carried at blissdom.
email me with your address and i'll ship this baby in the mail!

so, are you bummed that you didn't win?
i would be too, because i *love* my bloom bag.
um, do you think its weird that i named it?
do you know why i named it?
because when you sell something, it needs a name!
that's right - i have one in my shop, just for you!

it is all ruffled up and pretty with monster-size posies!

and it has pockets inside too!
one side has 2 divided pockets, and the other side has a zipped pocket.

but if you're anything like me, you may want to organize it a little more with a zippered pouch or 3,

and maybe a ruffly checkbook cover.

do YOU want one?

spring sprain, errr... break

last week we had spring break.
on the friday before it officially started, i was not so smartly swinging lily between my legs and
*YANK*, i injured my back
(as you may have heard me whining about on twitter).
and by injured i mean screaming and stiff and stuck in a bent over position.
no fun.
by monday i was told by my chiro that i had sprained my i-don't-know-what-you-call-it.
and sean was out of town for the.entire.week.
ugh.
thankfully, i began to heal quickly and even though i still felt crummy, we made the most of the week.
ok, thats not entirely true.
we made the most of a very lazy week.
the kids played so well and made the week off so easy and enjoyable for me, even with sean gone.  the.whole.week.
oh, wait.  did i already say that?
anyway, one of the few little outings we did was to walk downtown.
the weather was too beautiful to stay inside.

so i took silas, gracie and lily to one of my favorite shops

but sadly, it was closed.

so on we went, to splash in the fountain and then down to the creek

 to throw rocks

for as long as they wanted.
ok, until it was time to head home for dinner.

lily hung out with me

and made me laugh
(that's a dried nectarine, not a nasty tongue)

and we enjoyed the view.

oh, and i also potty trained the boy.
imagine injured me crawling on all fours to wipe his buns.
good times.

and did i say i'd announce the winner of my birthday giveaway today?
i lied.
sorry.
blame it on the now reinjured back.
its coming tomorrow, with a surprise!
